The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of excitement for our Mission Montana team. January and February were slower than we had planned in terms of visiting churches. This was partially due to the weather and the difficulty of scheduling at the start of a new year. Even so, God was at work, and we were thankful for a much-needed break from weekly traveling.
I originally thought that when we moved to Bozeman, I would homeschool the kids and work from home. However, at the beginning of this school year, God began to change my heart. I reflected on how much I love teaching and the connections I make with my students and their families each year. With that in mind, I began researching Christian schools in the Bozeman area. At that time, I decided I would send my résumé to a few schools in January 2026.
When January came, I chose four Christian schools and sent in my résumé—not knowing if they even had openings. I prayerfully hit “send” and trusted God with the rest. I heard back from all four schools and interviewed with a couple of them. After those interviews, I knew my heart was drawn to Emerge School.
This hybrid-model school provides two days of in-class instruction and three days of homeschool instruction. During the interview, the principal shared that she was leaning toward placing me in a 2nd/3rd grade class. I remember saying that if God were to handpick a job for me and place it right in front of me, this would be it. It would give us the opportunity to connect with Christian families in the community and allow our children to build friendships with other Christian kids. It would also give us time together through homeschooling, just as I had originally hoped. As an added bonus, 2nd and 3rd grades are my two favorites—what a blessing!
I was certain I would hear back the following week, so my patience was stretched a bit when it took four weeks to receive a response. I am so thankful that I finally got the call—I will be teaching 2nd and 3rd grade for the 2026–2027 school year!
After some discussion, we decided to fly out to Bozeman during spring break so the kids could see the school, complete the necessary assessments, and get enrolled. We also used that time to begin looking for housing in the area. It was the kids’ first flight, and they had a great time!
Finding housing right now has been a bit more complicated. Everything we’ve found online is either currently available or opening as soon as April 1. This likely means we’ll need to wait until about 4–6 weeks before our intended move to secure a place. However, we were able to drive through several neighborhoods that seem like a good fit for our family and budget. It’s hard to see homes we love online but not be able to pursue them just yet.
Because housing is one of our biggest stressors right now, a man we recently connected with at CrossPointe Church committed to praying specifically for a housing miracle for our family. We would love for you to join us in that prayer, as well as pray for us as we begin thinking through this transition as a family.
God has been showing up in so many ways. As we look back through our prayer lists and journals, we can clearly see how He has answered so many specific prayers. It is such an encouragement to witness Him working in mighty ways.
One of our biggest prayers during this season has been for increased faith, and Matthew 17:20 speaks directly to that. When the disciples asked why they were unable to perform a certain miracle, Jesus responded, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
God is a God of miracles—the God of the impossible—and we are so thankful for the opportunity to share His Good News with the people of Gallatin County, Montana.
